• Recognize Aliases (Networking): This option tells Conflict Catcher to resolve any aliases in the Startup Folders. If the alias points to a startup file on a network server, and AppleShare (or other network software) loaded before the alias, Conflict Catcher will mount the server and load the startup file identified by the alias.
To use startup files over a network, there are a few basic rules to follow. First, the network software must reside on each individual workstation. (ie: AppleShare, File Sharing Extension, etc.) Second, the network software must load before any aliases to startup files on a server (it does not have to load before Conflict Catcher). Third, lock on the network software (shift-click) so that conflict tests will operate correctly.
